Our Family...

We are two followers of Jesus who are married with four kids and have been serving in Taiwan since 2009. There were excuses that blocked us from coming to Taiwan, excuses of money, safety, and family. The goal of making followers of Jesus faraway from America seemed too risky. God convinced us that like the boy who shared his lunch with Jesus, the generosity of the giver was more important than the amount of the gift. So we left the results up to God and after four years of preparation landed in Taichung, Taiwan. The next four years tested us beyond our imagination as the culture shock of being illiterate and uneloquent in Mandarin Chinese humbled us. During that time Helen’s parents both died from cancer. God helped us through those times by attending recovery groups, counseling, and learning how to grieve and honor our losses. Today our ministry is shaped strongly by these experiences and we consider ourselves spiritually to be ‘wounded healers.’ That means the ways God taught us to heal spiritually, are the ways we now teach others we serve.
